Coosawattee River Resort

Meandering through East and West Ellijay you’ll find the Coosawattee River. What was once an intense 50 mile river that inspired James Dickey to write the 1970 novel “Deliverance”, has since been tamed by the construction of Carters Lake. Back in the day, the Coosawatee River was raging with spectacular class 4 rapids that rivaled those of the Chattooga River. Today, you can enjoy a comfortable float with only class 1 and 2 rapids. Amazingly enough after the river passes through Ellijay it continues on converging into the Conasauga River, the Oostanaula River, and finally the Tallapoosa River, before flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. Most notably in Ellijay, a large land development, The Coosawattee River Resort, planned its footprint around the beautiful Coosawattee River. Come out and explore the shoreline, fish from its banks, and float down her current!

Fightingtown Creek

Rich with Native American roots and abundant wildlife, Fightingtown Creek rises 2,000 feet above elevation and runs from the Eastern slopes of the Cohuttas in the Chattahoochee National Forest in Gilmer County through Northwest Blue Ridge to McCaysville before it joins with the Toccoa River in Georgia and the Ocoee River in Tennessee. There is some debate on the origin of the name, but regardless of the area being named after warring tribal leaders or frogs with an attitude, there is no dispute about the beauty of the land that surrounds this lively brook!
Owning property along Fightingtown creek provides you a secluded escape, with proximity to town. Here you can create a private oasis along the lush banks of the river to enjoy all the sights and sounds of nature. In the summertime you can tube or kayak the river and anglers will love the year-round challenge of fishing for native and stocked trout. Don’t miss the opportunity to live here. You’ll be thankful you did! ...
