Rich with Native American roots and abundant wildlife, Fightingtown Creek rises 2,000 feet above elevation and runs from the Eastern slopes of the Cohuttas in the Chattahoochee National Forest in Gilmer County through Northwest Blue Ridge to McCaysville before it joins with the Toccoa River in Georgia and the Ocoee River in Tennessee. There is some debate on the origin of the name, but regardless of the area being named after warring tribal leaders or frogs with an attitude, there is no dispute about the beauty of the land that surrounds this lively brook!
Owning property along Fightingtown creek provides you a secluded escape, with proximity to town. Here you can create a private oasis along the lush banks of the river to enjoy all the sights and sounds of nature. In the summertime you can tube or kayak the river and anglers will love the year-round challenge of fishing for native and stocked trout. Don’t miss the opportunity to live here. You’ll be thankful you did! ...

Apple Season is Upon Us!

Maybe it was some menacing dogs at the county line, or maybe he didn’t get a conditional use permit, but it doesn’t really seem to have anything to do with jurisdictional boundaries.
It’s not like grapes, where certain types, vinifera, for example, grow best at particular elevations or proper ph. But somehow good ol’ Johnny either stopped for no reason or ran out of seed after a productive sojourn to the east of Ellijay, about 20 miles south of Blue Ridge. The good news is, there’s a high concentration of apple trees close by, and if you overshoot that’s not a bad thing. Maybe you land in Dahlonega, where the good grapes grow. But that’s another story, for another time.

We, at Nathan Fitts & Team, love Blue Ridge and everything about this town, but there’s really more to our beautiful community hidden just outside this well-known city. There are five distinct areas that are in close proximity to town, but world’s away at the same time. Let’s take a look at the five outside cities that are a part of Blue Ridge.
As you approach Blue Ridge from the Atlanta area, you’ll pass right through Cherry Log. Between the towns of Ellijay and Blue Ridge, Cherry Log seems pretty non-descript. However, when you venture off of Hwy 76 and explore the properties dotted along the Blue Ridge Mountains and close to fis ...
