Coosawattee River Resort

Meandering through East and West Ellijay you’ll find the Coosawattee River. What was once an intense 50 mile river that inspired James Dickey to write the 1970 novel “Deliverance”, has since been tamed by the construction of Carters Lake. Back in the day, the Coosawatee River was raging with spectacular class 4 rapids that rivaled those of the Chattooga River. Today, you can enjoy a comfortable float with only class 1 and 2 rapids. Amazingly enough after the river passes through Ellijay it continues on converging into the Conasauga River, the Oostanaula River, and finally the Tallapoosa River, before flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. Most notably in Ellijay, a large land development, The Coosawattee River Resort, planned its footprint around the beautiful Coosawattee River. Come out and explore the shoreline, fish from its banks, and float down her current!

The History of Lake Nottely

The History of Lake Nottely

It’s hard to find The Lake on a map.

Yes, that’s how most of us refer to lakes that are considered home, a treasured retreat, or a gathering place to meet friends and family.

For many, in and around Blue Ridge, Blairsville, Fannin and Union counties, Lake Nottely is The Lake. And don’t worry, it’s actually easy to find on a map – about smack-dab central to Atlanta, Knoxville, Asheville and Chattanooga. For those living in those mid-size and big cities, The Lake is an escape from all things that come with higher population density and general city hub-bub.

It’s recreation, it’s fabulous views, and it’s quiet time together. But mostly, Lake Nottely is a place to relax. The beau. ...

Top 7 Activities on the Lake

Top 7 Activities on the Lake
Lakes are weird – and wonderful
As with psychology and social interaction, with lakes there’s simply more going on below the surface than meets the eye.  However, we spend most of our time at the lake on top of water, which is part of what makes lake life fun! Imagine social dynamics where all you have to worry about is what’s on the surface. That would be – say it slowly – A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!
While we usually think of hot summer days as the perfect time to enjoy the lake, it can actually be enjoyed year-round. Here are our Top 7 activities that you can enjoy lakeside.
Fishing
As with everything lake-related there are at least two functions related to every activity.  Fishing, for example, is also sunbathing.
That’s because even if you find fish through echo-location or triangulation or astrological charts, there’s no guarantee that once you put a wormed hook in front of them that they’ll eat. Pl? ...
